The Lynton and Lynmouth Music Festival - or Lllama for short - is an annual, volunteer-run festival that aims to bring quality music to the coast of North Devon.
Our philosophy is “for music, not for profit”. The festival is free and the committee work just for the fun of it. Over three days every June, our remote twin towns are filled with music. The main stage is set in a stunning location overlooking the Bristol Channel, and bands play in the pubs, in the church, in the halls, in the cinema and on the streets.
We programme music of the quality that you’d expect from a paying festival. Headline acts of past years include Bert Jansch, Alabama 3 acoustic, Keith Allen and Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals. We also programme a wide variety of cutting edge and underground performers, including acts from Andy Votel’s B-Music. Playing last year we had Superimposers, Beep Seals, The Wolf People, Booger Red, Pete Molinari and The Melody, The Melodica and Me.
We also offer an innovative classical and acoustic programme led by BBC TV’s Charles Hazlewood. Last year saw the 26 piece choir Cosmicorus performing in Lynton’s beautiful St Mary’s Church, overlooking the sea.
Thanks to the care we put into the programme, we’ve now gained a national reputation as a serious music festival.
Come and join us in 2009.
